My models are designed to be built from many layers of 1/8 inch thick plywood. We refer to models made from this thickness as “Single” sized engines. You can order most of our models cut out of 1/4″ thick plywood as well. All dimensions are twice as large. These are referred to as “Double” sized engines, are are intended for public display. A select few of our models are also available in “Triple” size. These are cut three times as large out of 3/8″ plywood. In general, single sized engines kits are kept in stock and can be shipped as soon as you order them.
Before you Order a Double or Triple Kit:
Double and triple sized kits are cut after they are ordered. As a general guideline, a double sized kit requires at two week to two month lead time, and a triple sized kit requires a six month lead time. These are estimates only, and will depend on the current production schedule. If this time frame could be a problem for you, it is best to contact me before ordering a double or triple sized kit to see how long production will take. By the way, if you want the double or triple produced faster, consider buying the laser cut parts only. If you make your own shafts, this can save 15% of the cost and make it happen mush faster. I have developed my own proprietary system to minimize laser scorching on my single sized kits. Unfortunately, this system does not work for my double or triple sized kits. Additionally, I must run the laser slower and at higher power settings for the larger models. Expect to see significantly more scorching and smoke deposits on my parts as the thickness increases. Generally, double and triple kits will look best if painted.
It is also important to note that all of my kits ship with the same instructions, regardless of the size. If you are going to assemble a double or a triple kit, be prepared to double or triple any dimensions listed in the instructions.
