Our models are original designs by Don Morris. Don is an Aviation Mechanics Professor at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He has a BS in Physics Ed., and a Master's in Aviation Ed. He also has a variety of ratings from the FAA, including Certified Flight Instructor and Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with Inspection Authorization. He built his first running engine from scratch at the ripe old age of 18. Shortly after that, he began building musical instruments out of wood. His musical instrument designs have been available to the public through www.donsplans.com for the last dozen years.
Don has a real passion for engines, and hopes to build and fly behind his own own running engines some day. Until then, he has to content himself designing stylized versions out of plywood, which he uses to demonstrate how engines work to his students. These engines are made flat so that they can hang on the wall and not take up too much space in his already cluttered office.
Morris Models was recently launched to share Don's model designs with the world. We are a small family run company, and the proceeds from our operation are used to develop new products and to educate the two kids we still have at home. We are an internet based business. We operate out of Southern Illinois, but have no physical offices.
CamFive CO2 Laser Cutter
Our laser cut parts are produced on a CamFive CFL-CMA1610T laser cutter. It has an active cutting area of about 60 by 40 inches. More importantly, it has twin 100 watt laser heads, so it can produce two sets of parts at the same time. Our non-laser cut parts are currently hand made on various lathes and saws.
He that takes the cakes that the Parsee makes makes dreadful mistakes.
Given the choice between the two of you, I'd pick the seasick crocodile.
We would like to have real feedback to put here, so feel free to send us some!
